About ColorUp Technology
ColorUp expands the reproducible color gamut by using an RGB color workflow with up to three additional separation passes. Unlike standard CMYK printing which is limited to the colors achievable through four-color process, ColorUp can reproduce vibrant colors that would otherwise be impossible to print.
The samples above demonstrate the difference between Standard CMYK and ColorUp RGB workflows. Hover over the layer stack to see how each separation contributes to the final printed result.
Best Practices
- File Preparation: Submit files in RGB color mode. The HP Indigo press uses ColorUp technology to automatically generate extended gamut separations.
- Color Expectations: ColorUp excels at reproducing saturated blues, purples, and oranges that fall outside the standard CMYK gamut.
- Substrate Selection: Brighter white substrates produce more vibrant color reproduction with ColorUp.
